| Tor.com is hosting an interesting series of blog posts concerning the authors and books that Gary Gygax listed in Appendix N of the AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide. The first post is a discussion of Robert E. Howard, Conan, and the story "Red Nails" specifically. It looks like an interesting series:

| This week's column talks about Poul Anderson and his book Three Hearts & Three Lions (one of my favorites).

| This week's post concerns one of the authors and books from Appendix N that I've never really heard of, Sterling Lanier's Hiero's Journey; however, based on the description of the book it's jumped to the top of my must read list:

| This week is a discussion of Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stories, which is kind of cool since I finished Swords and Deviltry last week.

| This week delves into the Dying Earth series written by Jack Vance, one of the biggest influences on D&D, especially it's magic system. Note to self: read more Vance soon.

| This week's installment looks at one of the most controversial figures that Gary Gygax listed in Appendix, August Derleth. I think that they give him a pretty fair shake overall.

| I'm sick today and haven't read Zelazny, so I don't have much to add today:

| L. Sprague de Camp and his book Lest Darkness Falls gets the treatment this week. I'm not too interested in reading de Camp right now and this discussion does little to elevate his work on my must read list.

Location: UK | I enjoyed Lest Darkness Fall when I read it for last year's challenge, but I don't see how it has much to do with D&D. | |

| I missed a couple of releases. Last week, they expressed their dislike of L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt's The Carnelian Cube, while this week, an appreciative post about Gardner Fox and his Kothar series.
