Subject: Forgotten Book Title - HELP!

Read a book back in ~1956 and I cant remember the title.
It is about:
Aliens taking over human.
Hero had a pistol the fired a stream of BB sized bullets in a stream similar to a machine gun
Something about a automobile chase/wreck where he dispatches an alien.
I thought it might be Puppet Masters by Heinlein but after rereading it again discovered it was not.
Anybody help me with the title of the book.
Appreciate the help

Location: The Wilds of Washington		I'd try the search function by year, or the defining books of the 50ies list. Maybe something might bubble up when you read the descriptions.
