The Quantum Magician

Ummmmm... liked it in a qualified way. Every time I thought it was getting a bit trivial, the author would haul out some rational-seeming molecular biology or quantum magic, and my attention was drawn again. I liked the African references - Zimbabweans in starships! - but I thought the premise of a faction that had discovered a magical drive and that needed to go through a specific gate to be a little contrived.

Having said all that, I's still like to read the next one!
