I love Jemisin's work and in this futuristic story, she makes some grand statements on what's going on here on our poor earth today. With it, she added another well earned Hugo to her collection with this Novelette that is part of Amazon's Original "Forward" Collection. In the epilogue, the Curator for this six work collection stated that the question he put to each author was to explore "technological pivotal moments"; asking if at the moment of discovery, does the discoverer wonder or know how their discovery will impact the world....... good or evil? improvement or disaster? moral or immoral? It's an interesting theme and I'm going to explore the other five stories as well. I'm really glad I listened to it on Audible, as the voice acting was absolutely excellent. The best short stories give just enough to really make you think.... (or hope) and this one does.
