This is a story about a man completely caught up in the mythology of his life and his work, and how it all comes crashing down on him when the truth behind the mythology is revealed. It explores the notion of monopoly control and impllied good, as well as the notions of stagnation and inequality in such settings.

The story is fast paced and very full of action. With the exception of some antiquated references, the story holds up pretty well today. Character development is fairly simple and somewhat cliche.

The simplest summary would be 'abolute power corrupts absolutely'.
