In the latest instalment, Peter Grant is hired on as a security investigator for the CEO of a high-profile high-tech IT firm. But there's more going on than just programming and semiconductors, and Grant must covertly gain access to the highest-security secret lab to avert an otherworldly disaster of epic proportions.

In an attempt to up the emotional stakes, the author has given Grant and his supernatural partner an impending baby and the accompanying familial angst to go with it -- and I'm not sure that it really works. But I give this entry credit for not having an unsatisfying dream sequence resolution like the last two novels.

Recommended for readers who are fans of the series; those who haven't read it before shouldn't start with this one but instead at the beginning.
