I actually enjoyed this far more than I expected. A young woman on the rebound from marriage to a wealthy, unfaithful spouse, who wants to make it on her own without a financial settlement, struggles to provide for herself... until she lands a job as assistant editor at a tabloid rag which is the equivalent of the UK's The Sun or to the US' Weekly World News. The staff are only slightly less loony than the members of the public who are giving them story tips about aliens, monsters, and an alive-but-in-hiding Elvis.

The author has worked traditional mythic creatures into a plausible real-world explanation for some of the strange events that are occurring, and the tabloid staff get caught up in trying to solve the mystery of a series of murders. This book is great fun, and never takes itself too seriously.
