Dhalgren

Goodreads lists this as a series, because at least one translation was broken into three parts. It is perhaps telling that those 3 parts received ratings of 3.27, 3.22 and 3.17 respectively. I've been reading for a month, reached 56% complete, and it is time to call this one abandoned.

I liked Babel-17, this was one of 4 unfinished books on the Locus best SF list, and it was published before the year 2000 (I focus on older books in the first quarter of each year). But this book... isn't good.

Quoting a popular one star review, "It's (an) exhausting, offputting, self-indulgent monotonous tedium of odd unpleasantness and pointless unwashed sexcapades stretched over a length of a doorstopper." Well said.
