Pearl

Pearl was a ton of fun, Malerman made what seems like a silly concept, not only realistic but scary at the same time. I didn't know what to expect from Pearl, but I can say I definitely I wasn't disappointed. The horror smacks you in the face right off the bat too, no tiptoeing around it. Build-up is a concept almost inseparable from horror, and it still definitely has its role, but later in the novel. I don't think that on a deeper level this story spoke to me too much, but sometimes all you need is a fun horrific read. I also read it quite long ago; I've just been on a reading hiatus which sadly translated to being quite late to write my reviews too. I'm back though!
