I sure hope this future isn't coming down the pipeline anytime soon. This novella is both beautifully written and absolutely terrifying. I love that a decent chunk of the novella is told from the point of view of the operators because it allows for some insightful narrative about the theoretical psychology on which the test is based. I'm fascinated by psychology, and the author seems to have quite a good understanding of some of its concepts and interlaces them into a compelling storyline quite neatly. You are made to feel for Idir IMMEDIATELY, and that makes what happens to him all the more "real" and locks in the emotional weight this dystopian world holds. I think I have to read the Themis files at some point now... I bet they are just fantastic.
