Did this series really need to be dragged out like this? I don't know, I think that it's just flawed in a lot of ways that make it repetitive and uninteresting to read. Character development is a strong part of Colfer's writing, and I can give him that. But it comes at the expense of the same things happening that have been happening already for six books. Maybe if it were the blueprint for novels that I absolutely love, I would be okay with it, but at this point, I just feel like I'm slogging through them for the pure sake of the completist inside me finishing the series. The plots don't grab me anymore, not when you know everything will work itself out EVERY SINGLE TIME, no matter how improbable it seems. Not super looking forward to the last book in the series.
