Crank Palace

Better than the Death Cure, so I'll give it that much. When I was going through reviews, I was kind of surprised. Not that I think this is the worst novella ever written, but the fact that people are giving it 5 stars is kind of crazy to me. I think Dashner doesn't write deep enough characters for me to feel emotionally connected enough to them to feel the emotions that this one is supposed to invoke. This novella is like the bad version of Sunrise on the Reaping. You know what the ending is if you read the Death Cure, and yet I still didn't find myself caring that much at the end. I did have a really bad day today, so maybe I was more emotionally unavailable, but honestly, I just think I'm not that impressed with Dashner's writing. Everything happens exactly like you think it will.
