Oh, that was good. I'm not really sure quite what I was expecting with this one, though as I thoroughly enjoyed Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell when I read that I was certain this one would be good. And I was not disappointed.

Told through a series of journal entries, this is a fun little riff on the concept of the world between worlds as seen in C S Lewis' The Magician's Nephew, and seems to draw quite a bit of influence from that as well as a variety of mythologies.

It's a fairly simple read, but that simplicity hides a deeply layered story that I'm sure is going to stick with me for a long time to come. Definitely one to read if you haven't already.
