The Kingdoms

Time travel, which causes memory problems - for more than just the traveler? Apparently epileptic amnesia is common? So yeah, a bit confusing.

I liked the setting, though the characters were anachronistic at times. I loved the idea of a particular spot that crossed time, with both sides of the gateway still moving forward. Of course, I found myself wondering about crossing the other way :)

I didn't like the hype printed all over the cover, but that's probably not the authors fault. I didn't like the casual approach to death, or hell, let's just call it murder. Finally, I didn't see the chemistry, even if a dead man's clothes and mannerisms were involved. Joe was supposed to be super charismatic, but it rarely showed in the text.

I want to read something else by Pulley, and hope to find something with less hype. For me, The Kingdoms just didn't work. 2½ stars (out of 5).
