I bought all of these books, because I SO wanted them to improve...and they didn't.
A thoroughly unpleasant main character - with LEPROSY, for Gaia's sake! - and an author who wrote as if he'd swallowed a thesaurus, and was determined to use every word - however obscure. Oh, the story was good enough that I drifted reluctantly on with it, but I won't ever get that time back.
