As someone who has a great memory of staying up all night playing tomb of horrors and who also knows all the words to Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this book fit nicely into my interest and knowledge (though I guess I wasn't quite as into old coin op arcade games). Still, it was really good. I have to say, though, that the ending was somewhat anti-climactic. I expected more of the final gate and challenge, and the pacing just wasn't there at the end -- all of the sudden, it's over. But in all, a fun romp and well worth the time to read it and reminisce, but also think about possible futures.
I can see how someone not so steeped in or knowledgable about the 80s wouldn't get as much out of it, and would have felt as I did when reading the manga/japanese animation related passages (of which I am pretty much completely ignorant). But even those parts were generally enjoyable.
