Seeker

I am one of those people who read a book I like and then go into back-list frenzy: I must read all of the books in the series. I am currently reading my way through this series, and because of that I like it better than the reviewers featured in the sample. Watching characters change and grow through a series is one of my favorite parts of back-list reading. McDevitt's characters are interesting in that the space pilot is a woman, and most of the books are told through her viewpoint, even though her boss Alex is the driving force behind the travels, except the very earliest ones. Also, the tension between Alex, a antiquities dealer and his uncle Gabe, an archeologist, about putting artifacts into museums versus selling them is an unusual plot point.
