Facing a budget crisis at the Academy, Priscilla Hutchins agrees reluctantly to a mission to probe the orgin of "moonriders" , similar to the UFO's of our time. A young girl she has mentored, a powerful politicians' daughter begs to go on the trip. Since no one expects anything to come of it, she is allowed to go.

Almost at once, there are hints of danger to the entire universe, as a project know as Origins attempts to re-create the beginning of the universe, but poses a threat of tearing teh time-space fabric. A lonely ghost-like space station/ museum, a walking writh who warns the teen girl, and attacks on the Origins project by the moonriders soon follow.

This is a great space opera, with real intrigue, aliens, visions, politicians, bureaucratic butt-covering and heroism. A wild ride and well worth the trip.
