This is the first part of Asimov's foundation series consisting of five loosely stories within the same history.

The stories are straightforward: psychohistory is explained (sort of), a Seldon crisis occurs, the crisis is solved.

The book may come off as dated or implausible but apart from the incredibly precise timing of Seldon's calculations this setting worked very well for me. Figuring out what was actually going on was the major attraction.

Highly recommended for historical value and as sociological (for lack of a better term) novel. And of course as the beginning of much more.
