So I bombed through the first 30%, totally hooked, then accidentally got busy and ended up taking a week and a half break. Getting back to it, it took a little work to be remerged - mostly, to remember names, terms, places etc. But overall, the book was excellent. A real relief from miserable and angsty fantasy fiction of late - the word for this one might be 'good natured', or as I heard someone else describe it, "a fantasy of manners". The culture was fascinating, the main character sympathetic and flawed but willing to learn, and the plot interesting. Fully enjoyed, and will read anything Addison puts out next. Although, I will say that remember the people, and the suffixes and what they meant, was nightmarish. I only discovered the glossary/guide at the back of the book when I'd finished reading it (thanks to Kindle). Would have made the read somewhat smoother.
