This is a unique style of narrative amid a genre well trodden during the decade this was published. You dont have to look far to find tales of humans with special mind powers. However this is a story of how a group of unique and vulnerable people come together and how they use these gifts is really a secondary plot concern.

The reason this is excellent is the style of writing and the plot. I have never read a book where the pages pass in droves as the reader desperately wants to know how the current narrative fits with the overall plot. Be aware of this structure. This is clearly three short stories cobbled together into one plot. Each book starts mid action and it is not until nearing the end you realise how well these hang together.

Original, cinematic and engaging with characters you really care about - especially the Fantastic Idiot.

The only Sturgeon you need to read.
