Cozy climate change SF that haunts

A postmodern lit take on the cozy catastrophe, replete with the literary genre's favorite tropes: bad marriages, parent issues, illness, etc, yet sensawunda arises if you stay with it until the end. Slow at times, if only to mimic the incremental effects of climate change and the lurching crisis-then-norm response of humanity's style of adaptation. A heavy metaphor of hive collapse parallels this loose family tree, er, clade, but I find most interesting that the intial characters represent a tension of art and science, and the offspring and beyond representing an integration of those tensions an evolving culture.
