If you are not used to Zelazny expect few pages, but a lot happening in between the scentences. In the bible light, the universe and planets were created in a few lines - that is like Zelazny's style.

However this is fantastic stuff with engaging characters (with questionable motivations) and a fantastic concept.

This is a world that does not spin by design. Day side is ruled by science like western civilisation; Night by magic, beasts and lore. Our protganist ends up experiencing both cultures which drives him onto a path that effects everyone on the planet.

As usual this Zelazny story runs at a break neck pace - there is not a moment of boredom throughout. If you are expecting a sequel to the excellent ending be warned however that Zelazny deliberately wanted this to be a standalone story becuase of the very nature of the plot and the ending.

As mentioned before this book is let down by being too brief in places - it could do with a 30 or so extra pages in this case, eventhough there is nothing wrong with any book wiith a low page count. For this reason this is not as brilliant as Lord of Light but close. Still one of the best Zelaznys.
