The Cleft and Other Odd Tales

Gahan Wilson

From the horror of blot to the gentle unease of Campfire Story, from the classic oral-horror style of The Marble Boy to the science fiction scares of It Twineth Round Thee in Thy Joy, this collection shows Wilson at his very best. Originally published in Playboy, Omni, and notable anthologies such as Again, Dangerous Visions, Wilson's short fiction is gathered here for the first time. The 24 stories are each accompanied by an original, full-page illustration done especially for this volume. Gahan Wilson has won two World Fantasy Awards and the Bram Stoker Award for Life Achievement. His most recent cartoon collection is Gahan Wilson's Even Weirder. His latest CD-ROM is Gahan Wilson's The Ultimate Haunted House.

First World Fantasy Awards

World Fantasy Awards: Book 1

Gahan Wilson

A wondrous anthology of fantasy and horror commemorating the First World Fantasy Convention held in 1975 in Providence, Rhode Island--the birthplace of H. P. Lovecraft, master of the macabre.

Here are the winners of the first "Howard Awards" (busts of the venerable Lovecraft himself)--the top honor to be bestowed for excellence in the field of the fantastic, be it short stories, novels, collections, non-fiction, art, or publishing.

Included in this collection is the work of such masters as Robert Bloch, Patricia A. McKillip, and Robert Aickman; British writer Karl Edward Wagner, artist Lee Brown Coye, and Manly Wade Wellman. As well as panel discussions, winners' acceptance speeches, even a mini-treatise, "Toward a Greater Appreciation of H. P. Lovecraft." All overseen and hosted by a winning toastmaster, cartoonist and author Gahan Wilson.
