| I searched but didn't find an answer. Why is the BFS award not updated past 2012? Is it because it split into Derleth and Holdstock? (Maybe I did read that on here somewhere.) |

(Maybe I did read that on here somewhere.) Yeah, the award split and the funky rules gave us pause to consider how to update the site to fit and we never got back to doing anything with it. Nobody seems to care too much so we've just been letting it slide while we work on other aspects of the site. I'll look at fixing it again after we get the Aurealis Fantasy Award in.

Location: SC, USA | Dave, I actually have an idea that I started working on this afternoon. Keep the award as the BFS through 2010. Add the Derleth Award as a separate award for 2011 forward and add the Holdstock Award for 2011 forward. The only sticking point is that the first year in 2011 the two awards shared the same pool of nominees. I'm working on a Google Spreadsheet with 2 tabs one for Derleth and the other with Holdstock. I list the winner and WWEnd Id # and the Noms with their WWEnd Id #s. If I do this leg work, will it be easier for you to build these as separate awards. Obviously, I'll add any books not in WWEnd. |

If you do the research and add the missing books that would be a huge help! Thanks very much, Rhonda. I'm still not sure how we're going to handle things but we'll get it worked out somehow. |

Location: SC, USA | Dave, All the books were in WWEnd--since there are only 3 years (and one of them is repeated), this was easy to do.

| According to ther BFS website the split occurred in 2012 not 2011 (there wasn't an award in 2011, Sam Stone was nominated for Demon Dance but declined). Prior to the split it was the August Derleth Fantasy Award for Best Fiction. Afterwards it was the August Derleth Horror Award and the Robert Holdstock Fantasy Award. As you have in your spreadsheet the nominee for 2012 were the same for both awards.
It seem that the obvious solution is to rename the current list the Derleth and downgrade Among Others to a nominee. Rhonda's list can then be used to update it.
Then create a new award (The Holdstock) and input Rhonda's list for that.
By just calling them the August Derleth Award and the Robert Holdstock Award we can ignore the switch from August Derleth Fantasy Award to August Derleth Horror Award.

Location: SC, USA | Thanks, JS. I missed that there was not an award for 2011. I think I remember the controversy now. |
