Le'Guin's The Word for the World is Forest is one of the best books I have ever read. Through a nuanced and intricate development of the Athshean people and their planet's ecolosystems, combined with her typical deep insight into humanity and Western Culture's simultaneous disregard for both women and nature, Le'Guin creates an extremely compelling call to action to protect every part of our planet -- including both the Global North and the Global South. A must-read for environmentalists, feminists, and anyone who enjoyed James Cameron's Avatar.
