Although August is still technically part of my "2017 Lite and Fluffy" reading challenge, by this time, I need a little meat on my books. PKD's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep has been sitting around on my TBR list for years, and now it is time to remove it.

In the spirit of frankness, I need to admit that I loved the movie "Bladerunner" I saw it in 1995 when our family got a VHS player. I was only 11 at the time, so I was unable to understand the nuances of the plot. Now that I have read the novel, all the controversy about the paper unicorn in the movie still makes absolutely no sense. But I understand the questions about who was the android in the story.

The detective plotline was very strong, and would have made for a book with a strong theme, but then Mr. Dick added all that stuff about Mercerism, and that just muddied up the waters. I enjoyed the interactions between Harry and the animals, both real and artificial. And my heart absolutely broke in the final scene with Harry and the toad. Read the book and that last line will make so much more sense.
