At first I wondered why Herbert chose to skip the first years of Paul's conquest through the galaxy and show us the already established Atreides Empire which is threatened by treason and shadowy prophecies. I was also irritated that two of my favourite characters from the first book didn't had any appearance at all. But then I was enchanted by the ever-shifting POVs, the nebulous writing and Paul's and Alia's struggles to keep the galactic empire running, I enjoyed their irritating visions as I couldn't really pinpoint what was going to happen next. I thought it a clever way to keep me guessing and immersed. The suspense grew immensely through the last chapters and the book ended on a high note. A great sequel!
