This book could be described as "Nyx from Kameron Hurley's God's War meets Jeff VanderMeer's Area X at the Strugatskys' Roadside Picnic". I found the worldbuilding of the alienness vivid and interesting, but the character development left much to be desired, and the ending was really a disappointment. Content warning for lots of blood, gore, and violence.
