I really have to apologize, I think, for not liking this book - it is an absolute case of my not being the proper audience. I respect and admire Padme Amidala (and her wardrobe!) but I wasn't very big on the Star Wars prequel series. But for young girls growing up in that era, I now understand that Padme and her handmaidens were iconic characters, and this book is written for them. The focus is on Padme finding her place as senator, with the assistance of her posse, and each of them appears, even if briefly, in the spotlight, and each of their characters is well-drawn.
