Superb and intricate worldbuilding, outstanding characters, in-world mythology and religion, DRAGONS! It's not an entirely perfect book - it could have used a bit more judicious editing, and I'm not sure that one character really earned their redemption arc - but still, I've never been so glad this winter to have one more snowstorm, so I could lock myself away and immerse myself in this world. GLORIOUS.
