This story manages to do a great deal in a very small space, and it does a great job of giving the reader just enough details to extrapolate a great deal more background information about the imaginative worldbuilding. Perhaps one of the highest compliments a story can get from me is that I didn't want it to end -- and while this is a full story in itself, it left me wanting more.
I loved this story of hope for the future amidst the desolation of the past, and I put it first on my Hugo ballot.
