This was my second Stross book; I like Glasshouse a lot and thought I'd give this one a try when I found it at the library. But I can only give it three stars max. It was a good concept and started out interesting, but I'd rather it had gone deeper into what happened to humanity and how it would affect the robot worlds. Instead it turned into a battle of syndicates and evil leaders that I could find in many other books. In addition, the endless switching of the protagonist between multiple personalities (people?) and the detailed descriptions of traveling between worlds overwhelmed the story. Travel somewhere else for months or years, then meet with someone as one personality, then do it again, several times. I'll read other Stross, but this one didn't do it for me.
