This is an expanded version of Campbell's 1948 novella Who Goes There? which was famously made into the movie The Thing. It restores three beginning chapters of mainly exposition which were excised from the original. The additional chapters are interesting from a historic perspective, but the decision to excise them was the right one, and they do not add significantly to the story. Worthwhile reading for fans of the original story or the movie.
