In an Absent Dream

A misfit young woman accidentally finds her way into the Goblin Market, spends years living there and bonding with a good friend, and then returns to the real world. Unable to choose between the worlds, she ends up paying a terrible price.

I never gained an appreciation for portal fantasies as a child, which probably colors my opinion here. I feel as though this story is just a variation on the same theme as the previous series entries, and does not really bring much that is new to the table.

But this novella will definitely appeal to fans of folktale retellings, portal fantasies, or the earlier entries in this series.
