An Illusion of Thieves

I was a little annoyed at the beginning of this book because the main character has to repeatedly deal with an adolescent who is engaged in terminal stupidity -- but once the story really got going, I tore through the rest of the pages. I'm more of a science fiction fan than fantasy, but this book was a surprising gem. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding here, and the characters get well-developed in the course of an engrossing mystery-focused plot. I finished this book wishing that the sequel was already out, and I will be picking it up as soon as it's available.
