It is a beautiful, quick read. It's as much a mystery as fantasy horror.
The Jules de Grandin series introduces us to the fascinating character of Dr. Jules de Grandin and his intriguing relationship with Dr. Trowbridge. This dynamic leaves us eagerly anticipating the next story.
Critically maligned, Seabury Quinn has an effortless, flowing style. I always understand the story, which is important for a horror mystery. It's easy to tire of the what's around the next corner tension of Lovecraft, Smith, and Howard. Quinn is a wonderful break from that.
Seabury Quinn was the most popular author of that era and genre. This guy made money as a pulp-era author. This is a series one can get comfortable with.
