Whether one agrees with or has a taste for Lewis' penchant for theological overtones, I think the aspect I appreciate most about the separate entries in his Space Trilogy is how different they are from one another.
The first one is a (scientific inaccuracies and all) somewhat pulpy, first-contact space exploration tale. The second takes the theological aspect further and becomes a cosmic retelling of the Fall of Man. The third? A strange, yet odlly compelling mix of Orwellian, cult-like societies, dark fantasy, sci-fi and...Arthurian legend. How Lewis manages to gel these elements together to form an entertaining and sometimes rather horrific story, makes it very memorable.
It's this strange mix of genres that I find so wonderfully attractive about this book-- say what you will, but there's not much like it.
