This a beautifully told book. It's a slow story, about an old woman who is done with the world, and would love to be left alone. But, the world is not done with her, so she is thrusted in the middle of a first contact gone wrong.
Ofelia is not ideal, she is sometimes timid, sometimes headstrong, always tired and hungry, but she feels very real.
My one peeve is that the Kira chapter is weirdly put. She should have either had a more pronounced voice in the book (she's basically a background character) or the chapter could have been a simple info dump. As well, I would not have minded a little more of the indigenes PoV.
