Multiple plot lines happen in this book. Quickly. People come and people go. Fears of book turning "Rama" like never developed. The ultimate plot line and story of the book were quite enjoyable. It's all about the end of this world and the beginning of the next. Somehow even the "bad guys" of the story turn out to be good guys and it's very clear how the next books in the series spin off. The somewhat minor details I wish would have been expanded on were the other aliens races, including the notorious enemy "Jarts". Who and what were they? Tantamount to the plot, but barely given more than a paragraph brushing them aside. Very enjoyable. I think I read it mostly in a single day.
