A good introduction to Silverberg's reading and traveling history. I especially enjoyed his telling of his travels and how they influenced his writing. But what is especially telling is the limitations of the authors he has read. For someone who has lived as long as he has and read as many books as he has (I've seen photos of some of his library), this book makes it appear that he has read exclusively (or almost) works by white males. But that's just what I got from this book of conversations. Perhaps this is true only within the literary works but if it is true within his own field of science fiction and fantasy then he should be really ashamed.
