Old Man's War

I was interested to see this, given that it kept getting recommended to me, and - it was good.

For a given value of good.

Oh, the premise is really interesting - letting only old people be in the "army" - but good gods almighty, can Scalzi's characters TALK?! And talk, and talk....

It actually gets in the way of the story quite often, which is reminiscent of RA Heinlein's long-winded omnisciently wise older characters, which I'm sure Scalzi would not want!

It's good and well written, though, and I enjoyed it.
