I've liked every Stephen King book I've read so far, and I've read over ten at this point so maybe my expectations going into books are a little high, but I think I was bound to be disappointed by this regardless.

King has said that readers were ether going to really like this book or really not like it and he was okay with that. I've seen reviews on people that loved it and people that didn't. I fall into the category of people that didn't like it so much. Mostly because I just never got fully engaged. Which is something I've never had a problem with when reading King. The dialogue of the two old newspaper men and the young female reporter are probably the best part of the book. Sometimes it was done really well. I liked the building of their relationship it was really wholesome and wonderful. But the story they were telling her was sort of interesting, but for some reason, I don't know if it was the style of the book, or just the story, I didn't connect with it enough. And I would have connected with it more if it had wrapped up in some way. And you may say "Well the whole point of the book is that it doesn't wrap up and it's a open ended mystery, that's what makes it unique and a masterpiece." And I say it didn't work for me, the ending WAS just frustrating. I hated when King did this in "The Long Walk" and I hate it again here. But Kings good enough that this still squeaks in at three stars.
