This book is less about dinosaurs and more about the intrigues of time travel and the machinations of those who want to benefit from it themselves. Oh sure, there are lots of wild discourses on dinos and their behaviors, all completely fictional and likley nonsense, but they help pad the book out so the time-hopping, deceptions and power plays have something to hang on.
Unfortunately, since time travel is arbitrary and instantaneous, the "we've been in this time for ages" and worse, "we're stuck here who knows how long" make literally zero sense in the context of the story as written. There should nevar have been a 'lost expedition' since the time to rescue them would have been instantaneous from the 'lost' party's point of view.
Unfortunately, this kind of consistency makes for a pretty quick and pointless story, so the author clearly had to ignore his own time travel construct and break the story completely along the way.
There are many better time travel stories than this.
