I flew through this as the Mockingjay's Snow hates with vitamin passion. I saw a review from one of my friends who gave this one star and he talked about how tall of an order Collins had to fulfill. She had to write Snow as horrible while making the book palpable and enjoyable for the audience. I think she succeeded as Snow is quite messed up from the start without being too heartless to scare away most of the audience (young readers.) The ending was sort of anticlimactic to me, I kept thinking there would be a breaking point, but it isn't like that. Snow doesn't go through any drastic personality changes during the novel. He fights against his true nature at the start of the book.
Things the book left me with:
- Animal testing is one of the greatest horrors of mankind
- True love is not for the power-hungry
- What happens to Tigress?
- How close to the truth does Collins write when talking about the Hunger Games? Do you think this is how we would act if they were enacted right now?
- It would have been cool to read about a district besides 12, we already have an entire trilogy with an MC from 12.
