An inventor / engineer, different kinds of time travel, and a very vocal cat. A lot of fun and a fairly quick read.
This was originally serialized in 1956. I read it as a kid, probably middle school, and again in 2006 - but I didn't write a review. This reread to rectify that, because I haven't managed to invent either type of time travel.
The engineer in me loved this book. Inventions, good ideas, and reusing technology originally developed by the government. Instead of this being Steve Jobs, it's Heinlein's protagonist, and his very cool (and long-lived!) cat. The plot is fun to read, and you can see how the chapters could have been magazine installments - would have kept me coming back.
