So there are two things happening here, and one is super damn cool and the other is less fully realized.

Everything involving Binti's culture and how it's judged and misunderstood by other humans was perfection. I loved how the details are slowly revealed to the reader in a way that allows you to discover your own cultural prejudices.

But once the aliens show up, the story got less successful for me, and part of that comes from what felt like a sudden reminder that I was reading YA.

I'm determined not to wait so long before reading my next Okorafor, but also to make sure the next attempt is on the Adult end of the spectrum.
