During WW2, a man and woman are trapped underground during a massive attack on Munich. They fall asleep in their hideaway and wake up a thoussand years later to a world run by a brutal dictatorshhip that rules over Earth and even other planets.
Separated immediately by the dictator, thee woman disappears into hhis harem and the man is consigneed to manual labor as a slave. His discontent with his fate drives him to foment a revolution.
Overall, the book is a simple-minded space opera with the hero capable of incredible acts while his true love waits in near helplessness for the hero to rescue her.
The author is far more famous for his military SF short stories (with the obligatory romance sub-plot), and this venture into space opera (with the obligatory romance sub-plot) is formulaic and unoriginal, even naive. Not awful, just not anything special.
