A story about first contact between two space empires, one human, and one superhuman, endowed with ESP powers of telepathy, telekinesis and teleportation.
While the story is well paced and engaging, the plot is fatally damaged by the original premise, that being the existence of superhuman aliens with ESP powers. The author, having created this race, then has to cripple it in contradictory ways to make it possible for the wildly inferior humans to have any chance against them. As this is central to the climax of the story, it makes the latter parts of the book rather nonensical.
Clearly this book was written at a time of flourishing interest in ESP and the author hoped to make a dramatic tale out of a conflict based on this. Unfortunately, accepting both this and the potential for human victory is too great a burden to supension of disbelief.
