It's a sequel, though the first book stood alone. Either book is better than the film, but I especially like how this one proves the overly simple film completely wrong. Whoops, won't be filming this!

Mickey is less of a historian in this book. He also has planning issues, and these come to the forefront here. To an extent, he owns up to them, but it takes much of the novel to change. I liked the very pragmatic Speaker.

The book starts fairly slow. I pushed through because I really wanted to read it, and got tiny rewards with improvements over the movie. Once past that point, it rolled, and I finished the book in something like 24 hours - being stuck on a plane helped some. Comparing the two books (read back to back this time), I would say the original is slightly better.

Will there be another sequel? I guess there could be. I wouldn't feel as compelled to read it as I did this one, though. I can definitely see myself reading something else from this author though, and soon.
